Today Is The First Day Of Autumn!

Summer is officially over. Autumn has begun! Today is the Autumn Equinox, the first day of Fall. Equinox, meaning "equal night", means that there is an equal amount of hours of day and night today. Starting tomorrow the nights will grow longer until we reach the Winter Solstice in December.

Autumn is my favorite time of the year. I love the cool weather, the colorful leaves, and of course, my favorite holiday (Halloween) is in Fall as well. My birthday is also in the fall and I'm a big believer that we all hold special the month and season in which we were born. It's as if they somehow belong to us.

For Wiccans and Neo-Pagans, today is Mabon, the second harvest festival of the year and the celebration of the arrival of Autumn.

If you wildcraft your own roots and herbs then today is the cut off date as the belief is that from here on out the power of the roots and herbs will wane as we near Winter.

Chicanery At The Psychic Fair

So I went to the psychic fair this past weekend. This was not the normal psychic fair that I go to. It was smaller and very different. The very first thing I sensed when walking in is the overwhelming feeling of greed. I'm talking greed like on the level of corporate-greed. These people were all about making money. In fact, it turns out that a "psychic" who I know for a fact is a charlatan was there and had the first booth that you saw when walking in! I know she is a fraud because I went to her way back in the early-to-mid 1990s. I paid for me and my female friend to get a reading. Like many psychics, I don't often read for myself as I fear being too biased. So I too seek out other readers. Well, this fraud took my money and spent 5 minutes on me and then spent an hour on my friend and told her that she needed to break off her friendship with me and was talking crap about me. Little did this fraud know that my friend didn't believe a single word she had to say and thought she sucked. She really thought she had my friend hanging onto every word coming out of her mouth. Anyway, this fraud is now morbidly obese and completely white-haired. She probably won't live much longer. You don't have to be a psychic to see a massive heart attack in her future.

Back to the point of this blog entry. There was a presentation where an alleged medium was going to do her thing for people. The place was packed. It was so packed that there weren't any chairs and people had to stand sideways against the walls. I didn't feel like standing and I already sensed it was bull shit, so I left. I went into the lobby and closed my eyes and took a power nap. So my friend and my brother, who accompanied us, came out. My friend tells me what happened. The so-called medium made everyone write down their questions or the situation on a piece of paper. The paper were placed in a container. The medium then put surgical tape over her eyes and then a blind fold on top of that. She then reached into the container, drew a name, and then tapped it against her forehead three times. She then spouted off the alleged messages from the spirit she claimed she received.

So this woman called out, "Is there a "sis", here?" She then said that the spirit is named "Kevin" and that he wants to communicate to "sis". Well, my friend's deceased brother, who was also my friend as well, is named Kevin. She then said that Kevin is talking about a baby that either she or someone in the family just had. My friend did just have a baby relatively recently. So my brother instantly became a true-believer. My friend was iffy. So was I when she told me. Because I straight up asked my friend, "Did you put the name Kevin on the paper? She answered yes. Then I asked her, "Did you put down that you just recently had a baby?" She again answered yes. So I answered her, "Yep. She told you exactly what you already had written down. She's a fraud."

This fake ass "medium" is somehow able to read the pieces of paper and is simply restating the information people volunteer. I then tell my friend that true mediums don't do any of that bull shit stuff with surgical tape on the eyes and shit. None of that stuff is necessary. It's just theatrics designed to "oooohh and ahhhhh" people. It's the classic hallmark of con artists.

Real mediums talk to you normally. Real mediums give specific information that will floor you. Fake ones are all about money and their act is designed to deceive and make you part company with your cash. I will definitely not be attending this fake ass psychic fair ever again.

Oh, and one more thing. This celebrity psychic who has been on all of these ghost-themed paranormal shows, I won't reveal her name here, tried to con my friend into paying a ridiculous amount of money to attend a paranormal "conference" and "ghost hunt". It was absurd. She really tried to sell it hard and my friend got that, "lady you are crazy"-look in her eyes because we go ghost hunting all the time, and for free at that.

The Truth About Leviticus' "Gay" Verses

Leviticus 18:22
Thou shall not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is an abomination.

Leviticus 20:13
If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

These verses seem straight-forward, right? God is seemingly against homosexuality and calls for gays to be put to death. There is just one small problem. It's the English translation that seems so straight-forward. The Hebrew wording is actually open to interpretation.

When you read, "lie", "to lie with", etc., with regard to a man and another man, the actual Hebrew word used is shakab. Shakab means "to lie, lay" but through coercion or forcing of sex. In modern times we would interpret it as rape. The word shakab is used dozens of times in the old testament and always concerns what we call rape or in the very least, to pressure a person into having sex. Using deception to get someone to have sex is also an aspect of shakab. For example, the word shakab is used when Lot's daughters purposefully get him drunk in order to have sex with him in hopes of getting pregnant. They literally raped their own father. When you read "lieth with a woman", etc., the Hebrew word used is mishkab. Mishkab means "bed" but is used here to mean to play the passive or receptive role in sex or to submit.

Now, my readers who read my blog, What Did Jesus Say About Homosexuals Part 2 should know the following information. For those who have not read that blog let me recap it again here.

It all started with the ancient Greeks. The Greeks developed a complicated version of homosexuality that evolved rules and taboos. Though homosexuality itself was never considered wrong or immoral, anything that breached the gender roles and expectations of behavior were a huge no-no. The Greeks strongly believed in traditional gender roles and behavior. Men were to be masculine and women were to be feminine. So anything that violated gender roles and behavior was considered unacceptable. For the Greeks, two males could engage in sexual activity with one another as long as no one was penetrated orally or anally. Any man who allowed another man to penetrate him was guilty of not acting manly, that is, of acting like a woman, and was shamed. There was no shame placed on the man who penetrated the other man because the male gender role is to play the role of penetrator.

Instead of oral or anal sex, Greek male lovers practiced what we would call mutual masturbation as well as a non-penetrative sex act called intercrural sex. Intercrural sex is when one man inserts his penis between the thighs of his male lover and then thrusts until orgasm.

These rules of homoseuxality only applied to citizens. Slaves had no rights and could be penetrated by their masters if they so desired. It was this institutionalized form of homosexuality that spread across much of the ancient world. The Romans assuredly adopted it and likewise brought it to places where it was not known before.

So let's go back to the verses. Let me translate it in the correct light of what I have explained the Hebrew words mean. My translation is as follows:

"You shall not coerce or force a fellow man into allowing you to penetrate him."

Folks, what we have here is simply the Hebrew adoption of this Greek institutionalized concept of homosexuality. Note that the verses do not reference all sexual activity between two men. Instead, the verses are only referring to the act of penetration.

If this is the "law" then we should all know that the law must be worded correctly to not allow loop holes. The biggest loop hole in this "law" is that as long as one doesn't get penetrated then one can have other forms of same-sex sexual activity, which is the Greek ideal that was adopted by the Hebrews.

I would like my readers to please take note that these verses speak nothing about two men who are both willing to engage in sexual activity. The key word, shakab, means to coerce or force, as in our modern word rape. Consensual same-sex penetration is not even addressed in the verses. Therefore, the logical conclusion is that these verses are not geared to homosexuals and are not a condemnation of two male lovers in a committed relationship. Instead, these passages are against men raping other men and men who do not want to be orally or anally penetrated submitting to the sex act in response to the force used by the other man.

There is another component to these verses. When they are taken together in their context it is clear these verses are connected to the subject of idolatry and the worship of pagan gods. However, that's a subject that I have touched on before and will expand further in a separate blog.

What Did Jesus Say About Homosexuals? Part 2

In the previous blog I touched on what Jesus actually said about homosexuals. In this blog I will touch on Jesus' encounter with a homosexual man and I will show how fundamentalist Christians have been deceiving people and encouraging hatred, bigotry, oppression and violence toward gay people as a result of their lies.

5 And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him,
6 And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.
7 And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.
8 The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.
9 For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.
10 When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.
11 And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.
12 But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
13 And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.


Many people are familiar with this passage. As it has been translated into English it appears that a Roman Centurion approaches Jesus to have him heal his servant. The problem is that the passage has been improperly translated and on purpose at that. It has been purposefully whitewashed to remove all traces of a homosexual relationship.

In verse 6 where it reads "servant", the actual Greek word is pais. Now the word pais can mean several things. It can mean :

-boy
-son
-young male servant
-young male servant who is the lover of his master

So which meaning of the word pais is intended here in this passage? We all know that fundamentalist Christians demand that the only meanings used here is either "son" or "servant". Fundamentalist Christians even go as far as portraying the Roman Centurion in art as well as film as a man in his late 40s or 50s because they demand that the "pais" be his son, or a servant he treats like a son. In reality, and due to the life-span of that time, the Roman Centurion would have likely been in is mid to late 20s or early 30s.

Before I go any further I feel I need to explain the sexual practices of the Romans when it comes to homosexuality as found during the time period this event took place. The Romans were open to homosexuality but there were rules. It was taboo for a man to allow himself to be penetrated either orally or anally by another man. So two young teens or men could be sexual with one another as long as this taboo was not broken. To get around the taboo most sex between two males at the time involved mutual masturbation and intercrural sex, which is a type of sex that does not involve penetration. In intercrural sex a man places his penis between the thighs of another man and thrusts until he achieves orgasm. Similar practices occur today with both straight and gay men and are called "titty fucking" and "frotting" (rubbing the penis on the penis or body of another man until orgasm). The key thing to note with regard to this taboo of non-penetrative sex among men is that the taboo was only in place for free citizens. Slaves had no rights at all and a male slave could be orally or anally penetrated if the master so desired. As a result, many Roman men who wanted to orally or anally penetrate a male usually bought a slave specifically to fulfill this desire. In effect, they bought their lovers. These bought lovers were usually young, around the age of 14-16 years old. If they had been faithful to their masters they were usually rewarded with their freedom and full citizenship when they matured.

So back to the question at hand, which meaning of the word pais is intended in this passage? For the answer we will need to go to Luke where the story is told for a second time.

7 Now when he had ended all his sayings in the audience of the people, he entered into Capernaum.
2 And a certain centurion's servant, who was dear unto him, was sick, and ready to die.
3 And when he heard of Jesus, he sent unto him the elders of the Jews, beseeching him that he would come and heal his servant.
4 And when they came to Jesus, they besought him instantly, saying, That he was worthy for whom he should do this:
5 For he loveth our nation, and he hath built us a synagogue.
6 Then Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying unto him, Lord, trouble not thyself: for I am not worthy that thou shouldest enter under my roof:
7 Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed.
8 For I also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers, and I say unto one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.
9 When Jesus heard these things, he marvelled at him, and turned him about, and said unto the people that followed him, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.
10 And they that were sent, returning to the house, found the servant whole that had been sick.

The word servant used in Luke's version of events is not the Greek word pais. Instead, it is the Greek phrase "entimos doulos". The word doulos means "slave" and only has that one meaning. The word entimos means "honored, chosen, special". So Luke's version of the event proves that fundamentalist Christians are lying when they claim that this sick boy was the son of the Roman Centurion. Luke specifically says that this boy is the "special or honored slave" of the Roman Centurion. Now to beg the question, what by chance would you think would make this young boy slave special to the Roman Centurion, over and above all his other slaves? It's not hard to conclude that what makes this boy slave special is that he is also his master's lover.

Why would a Roman Centurion seek out a Jewish rabbi to heal just a regular slave? The Romans conquered the Jews. They viewed themselves as superior to the Jews. If we realize that this boy slave is also the Centurion's lover then we understand that the Centurion was so desperate that he sought out Jesus because he had heard he had the power to heal people. What would you do for you boyfriend, girlfriend, spouse or lover? What lengths would you go to just for the hope or chance that they be healed and spared from a certain death? Would you humble yourself unto a person of the race you conquered and whom you viewed as beneath you? Because that's what the Centurion did.

Some interesting things to note:

-Jesus wanted to go to the home of the Centurion to heal the boy. The Centurion refused. Why? It's not unreasonable to suggest that either the Centurion was aware of Jewish customs and felt that Jesus would disapprove of his homosexual relationship. It's also possible that the Centurion feared what would happen to him if he was caught inviting a Jewish rabbi into his house.

-The Centurion tells Jesus that he gives orders and the men under him obey his command. The Centurion believes that Jesus also has the power to command the illness out of his lover from a distance. Jesus is "marveled" by the Centurion's faith.

-Jesus had never encountered a person with as much faith in him as the Roman Centurion before. Not even a single Jew had faith that matched the Centurion's faith.

-Jesus predicts more gentiles than Jews will follow him.

-Jesus is not stupid. Jesus knows good and well that this is a homosexual man who has asked him to heal his lover. Jesus does not condemn him. Jesus does not rebuke him for committing an "abomination". Jesus does not make them be straight before he heals the lover. Instead, Jesus accepts him and his male lover for who they are and doesn't ask them to change. In reality, Jesus exalts the Roman Centurion, a homosexual man, for his faith and promotes him as an example of the faith Christians are supposed to have.

Being gay is not a sin. Sexual preference is not chosen. We are born who were are. If Jesus didn't have a problem with homosexuals then Christians shouldn't either. The lies and hatred that are spewed from fundamentalist Christians must stop.

What Did Jesus Say About Homosexuals? Part 1

I often hear the phrase, "Jesus was silent on homosexuality", from many people when the subject of homosexuality or gay marriage comes up in regard to religious debate. The purpose of this blog is to educate people that this not quite true. Jesus spoke about homosexuality once and then had at least one encounter with a homosexual. In this blog I will touch on what Jesus said about homosexuality.

Matthew 19:12
For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother's womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.

The word eunuch comes from the Greek and means "bed keeper". In Aramaic, the language that Jesus spoke, it means "trusted one". In Hebrew, it means "appointed one and/or castrated one".

Eunuchs were literally men who had as their position the guarding of the beds of the wives or women of royalty in order to prevent other men from entering and having sex with the women. Since normal heterosexual men were themselves potential threats of having sex with the women they were entrusted to guard, it was a standard practice to castrate them. However, castrated men can still have erections and because they no longer ejaculate they can last longer than non-castrated men during sex. Women quickly realized this and eunuchs became very desirable as secret lovers. As a result, many eunuchs had their penises removed along with their testicles. So in the literal sense a eunuch is a man who has been either castrated and/or had his penis removed and who's job was to guard the wives and women of royalty so they don't have sex with other men. As I mentioned in a previous blog, Daniel of the lion's den fame was himself a eunuch. So eunuchs are found in the bible.

In Matthew 19:12, Jesus says there are three types of eunuchs.

1. Eunuchs who were born eunuchs.
2. Eunuchs who were made eunuchs.
3. Eunuchs who have chose to be eunuchs for religious reasons.

Let's start with number 3. A eunuch who has chosen to be a eunuch means a person who has chosen a life of celibacy, that is a person who willingly chooses to abstain from romantic and sexual relationships out of religious convictions. Jesus is not talking about men who castrate themselves. Jesus is not talking literally in this passage.

Number two covers men who were forcibly castrated and/or had their penises removed against their will by other men. These men would play the standard role of eunuchs who guarded the wives and women of royalty.

Now we get to the good stuff. In number one Jesus said that some eunuchs were born eunuchs. What did Jesus mean? Well, fundamentalist Christians claim this part of the passage only refers to men who were born deformed and incapable of penetrating and impregnating a woman. The problem is two-fold. First, we know in number 3 that Jesus was not talking literally. Yet fundamentalist Christians demand that Jesus was talking literally in number 1. Second, the term eunuch was often used to describe homosexual men in the ancient world. Words like gay and even homosexual did not exist in ancient times. In the ancient world it did not matter what gender you were attracted to. A man was still required to marry and reproduce, even if he preferred to have sex with other men. So any man who preferred other men and refused to marry a woman and reproduce was likewise put under the label of eunuch. Scholars know this. It's not a secret. It's just that fundamentalist Christian leaders want to deceive people.

So in number one when Jesus says that some eunuchs are born eunuchs he is talking about men who were born deformed and incapable of penetrating and impregnating a woman as well as homosexual men who refused to marry a woman and reproduce. So what did Jesus have to say about these people? He said, "He that is able to receive it, let him receive it", to paraphrase, "If it's your God-given nature or if it's your lot in life then it's perfectly fine." Why is this important? Because the Old Testament teaches that eunuchs are to be despised and are unworthy. Jesus is countering that by saying that through him eunuchs are now accepted.

Sexuality is not a choice. We do not chose what gender we are attracted to. Our sexual preference is determined in the womb and is hard-wired in the brain by exposure to sex hormones in the womb. People are born gay and bisexual, just as people are born heterosexual. Homosexuality is normal and is a part of nature. Homosexuality has been observed in nearly every single animal species. In fact, there are even entire species (reference Bonobo chimps) where every single member of the species is bisexual. There are even species where members have the ability to change their own gender!

*Note: Asexual men, men who have no sex drive and are not sexually attracted to either gender were also in ancient times included under the umbrella definition of eunuch.

Kim Davis, The Kentucky Clerk Who Refused To Issue Marriage Licenses Compared To The Biblical Daniel

Hypocritical Christians around the nation are rushing to support Kim Davis, the Rowan County, Kentucky, clerk who has refused to issue marriage licenses because she disagrees with gay marriage on religious grounds.

Davis claims God is opposed to gay marriage and that gay marriage threatens the sanctity of traditional marriage. She believes this yet fails to realize that a traditional, Biblical marriage is comprised of the following;

-Having multiple wives
-Marrying a girl as young as 12 years old or a girl who has had her period
-Having concubines (Concubines are live-in prostitutes that a husband can have sex with and who have to obey their "husband" as master but who have none of the rights of a wife.)
-Husbands having the ability to have sex with a slave in order to conceive a child if the wife can not conceive.
-If a man rapes a woman according to the Bible he must take her as a wife.
-Marriage done not out of love or even free choice, but rather to serve political or social purposes. The majority of people married in Biblical times had arranged marriages.

On top of this, Davis is a hypocrite of the highest order. Not only has she divorced and married again multiple times, something which Jesus condemns and claims is adultery, but she also has given birth to children out of wedlock. It seems when it comes to her own sexual sins that Davis feels that such is perfectly fine with God because she's "straight". She is but one of countless, fake, hypocritical Christians that believe that God doesn't care if you act a big whore as long as you aren't messing with the homo stuff.

So Davis has been jailed for her refusal to do her job. She continues to project the same, tired lies that she is the one being persecuted because she is a Christian. These are the same types of people that fought against interracial marriages, mind you. They used the exact same arguments, that God wanted the races separate and that if you argue with them you are somehow attacking Christianity instead of standing up to bigoted, racist, hate-filled people, which they truly are.

Right now, Christian leaders and many key Republican figures are coming to her aid and are comparing Davis to the biblical Daniel, the "lion's den" one. They believe that God will rescue her from this "onslaught" of Christian persecution the same way that God rescued Daniel. There is only one small problem with this comparison. The biblical Daniel was almost assuredly gay. Not only was he likely a homosexual but he was also a eunuch, a man who has been castrated. In his case, being a royal servant and having his boss be "the prince of eunuchs", is almost assuredly an admittance that Daniel himself was a eunuch.

Now God had brought Daniel into favour and tender love with the prince of the eunuchs.

The phrase "tender love" in the Hebrew actually means "physical love". One can not escape the conclusion that Daniel and the prince of eunuchs, who's name was Ashpenaz, were gay lovers. Not only were they gay lovers, but the verse clearly states that it was God, not Satan, that put this same-sex love into Ashpenaz so that Daniel would be protected. 

Daniel is not the only homosexual in the bible. Kind David had a homosexual relationship with Jonathon. Jonathon went as far as getting naked in front of David while professing his love for him. The pair swore oaths to each other that are remarkably similar to what we now consider marriage to be. The two also wept together and kissed a lot. When Jonathon was killed David gave his eulogy and said that his love for Jonathon was greater than his love for any woman. If David and Jonathon lived in modern times nobody would hesitate in thinking that they were lovers. The relationship between Ruth and Naomi also reeks of a lesbian relationship. The relationship between the pair was so tight that Ruth swears that she will go wherever Naomi goes, even convert to her religion, as long as she can remain with her. The wording in the passages is the same wording used in Genesis where it states that a man will cling to his wife and the two shall become one. That's how strong this "friendship" was.

People need to wake up to the fact that fundamentalist Christianity is just as much an enemy to the survival and progression of the human species as is any fanatical terrorist group. When they can't get their way and aren't allowed to torture, harass, and oppress a minority fundamentalists Christians immediately claim they are the victims. Well, Mrs. Davis, if you are so offended by gay marriage then the proper thing for you to do is resign. Yet you won't do that, will you. No. You have to get your glory and like a good hypocrite you must go down as a martyr so you can get all the fame and attention from other fake, hypocrite Christians. Keep it up, Davis. I'm sure if you play your cards right you will end up a millionaire like that other fake, hypocritical Pizzeria owner who raised a million dollars on gofundme.com after making blatant homophobic statements and threats of never catering to a gay wedding, even though not one single gay couple ever asked them to.

Marriage is not sacred. Half of all marriages end in divorce. God never decrees marriage in the Bible. There is not even a single definition of what marriage is in the Bible. It's because God didn't invent it. Marriage is a human, socio-political contract. The only "marriage" that God recognizes is sexual intercourse. Otherwise, God would have commanded Adam and Eve to sign pieces of paper and go through an absurd ritual.

When I first came to you last August, it was in a state of desperation. My family was broken. There was no peace in the house, only anger and fear and confusion and violence. Police had been involved. Family Services. Family court. Doctors. Lawyers. Therapists. I had contemplated suicide. Within three months of your help, there was a true and surprising shift. A calming. A year later, the terrible things that had been part of our family for more than two decades almost felt like they happened to someone else. Not every day is a good day, but there is a general softening now. Daily fear has been replaced by a sort of...carefulness. 

 

I did all kinds of things to try to help this along -- candles and oils and sage and church and therapy and lots of prayers and reading -- but I credit you with bringing peace to my family. The work you did, the kind (and accurate!) advice you provided -- I am deeply grateful.
